Other Rules and Regulations for Vehicles with Tinted Windows

- Dual Side mirrors are mandatory if the rear window of vehicle is tinted.
- All Tint Colors are not allowed for vehicles registered in Massachusetts.
- Stickers for compliance of legal tint are required to display on car windows, but not mandatory.
- Certificate of legal tint is not required for Manufacturers, to sell window films in the state.
Medical Exemptions
Massachusetts state law allows exemption from tint laws due to certain medical conditions. Tinted windows waiver is issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles only.
Vehicle is eligible for Tinted Glass waiver only if:
- The vehicle must be private passenger vehicle.
- The person must be photosensitive or photophobic, diagnosed by the licensed medical physician.
- Application from Tinted Glass waiver Certificated from doctor which proves that waiver seeker is photosensitive.
Penalties for Violating Tint Laws
Drivers can pay up to $250 fine for violating tint laws, however driving license can also be suspended for 3 months on third conviction.
